Hi everyone, my name is Emma and I have been a full time carer for my grandmother for 12 years and resided at her housing association property since 1995. Today I am facing the prospect of being made homeless through no fault of my own and I need your help.

My nan is my world and I love her with all my heart. She had stage 3 bowel cancer and we both fought it together. I was her full time carer throughout, until January 2021 when she had a really bad fall and shattered her left upper arm in 4 places. Since then she had to go into a nursing home as social services advised she needed 24 hour round the clock care and for her own safety, and to have medical equipment that she needed that we didn't have at home.

Since she has been in her nursing home my nan has transferred her tenancy to me so I won’t be homeless as she now needs to pay towards her care and give up her tenancy, but the housing association (London & Quadrant) has refused to transfer the tenancy to me and have now informed me that they are going to start the eviction process. 

Now not only have I lost my best friend living with me after I’ve been with her so many years, now London & Quadrant housing association are taking away my family home that I have lived in for so many years!

My nan has dogs too which I vowed I’d care for until the end of their days, how can I do this without a home?

I’ve started this petition so that I can keep a roof over my head, and too look after my nans dogs but also to raise awareness about carers around the country who give so much and get so little back!

Because of all the stress of my nan not being with me and her health and the housing situation I have mental health issues that I battle every single day, there is not a day where I don’t cry because I feel so lost. Since I started this petition my health has deteriorated immensely I have a variety of conditions that a battle daily including severe scitica/herniated discs, PCOS, Endometriosis, arthritis of my facet joints in my spine, nerve impingement in my back, IBS and I also suffer greatly with my mental health and anxiety. My life is hard, every single day I'm in so much pain not knowing if it will ever end and having the stress of potentially loosing my home that I have lived in since 1995 the home i have so many fond memories of its where my nan lived with me for so many years I have a emotional attachment to my home I never want to let it go the thought of loosing it is heartbreaking!

I have been advised by Shelter, Citizens Advice Bureau, my MP and social services that I must fight this as I am a human being and have rights. My GP has also signed a letter to state that it would be in L&Qs best interests to grant me the Tenancy to my home because its having such a negative inpact on my life but I need your help....
