As a Malaysian youth who is disappointed at the fact there are missed opportunities to bring in Western artists to perform in Malaysia. I therefore making this petition calling upon PUSPAL, the Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKMM) and concert organisers to let the leash loose and open our doors to these artists to host their concerts in Malaysia.

Being the subject of discussion these few days in Parliament, we have seen the victory of Singapore bringing Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour in Singapore for six nights and many asking why artists like her do not stop by Malaysia for a tour. 

Malaysia previously had been a hotspot for artists to stop by before journeying to Singapore, Thailand or Indonesia and has been always included especially as part of the artist's main tour or Asia Tour stops but Malaysia has been skipped by a lot of big names may it be Western or Asian artists for the protests by certain political groups and this in it case is not a new subject to many Malaysians especially youths.

Making the country the destination of choice for artists and tourists will therefore boost the country's revenue and benefit many sectors that are in line with the hosting of more international acts in the country such as hotels, restaurants, concert organisers and music labels. It will also ensure that Malaysians can spend their money within the country without the need to convert their Ringgit to foreign currency which will benefit other countries and is a loss to them over the currency exchange rate.

The success of Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour in Singapore is a definite wake up call for not only Malaysia but also its neighbours in the region hence it is vital that we make artists feel safe to perform in this country and for us to reap the benefits of hosting it locally rather than passing the opportunity for other countries to grab and gain from it.

I am also calling on music labels such as UMM (Universal Music Malaysia) to begin lobbying on getting artists under their belt to tour Malaysia and discuss with the artists respective labels to have a deal in which tour dates can be secured for Malaysian shows as well as local concert organisers as those industries will benefit in this circle as they provide the equipment and logistics to make this happen.

As mentioned in my title of this petition, I would urge Universal Music Malaysia to begin lobbying for Taylor Swift to perform in Malaysia. Taylor has stopped by in Malaysia in 2014 for the RED Tour and it has been 10 years since she has stepped foot in Malaysia. Fans across the country have been organising and participating in listening parties with the support of Universal Music Malaysia and I'm sure they are hoping for her to grace the stage in Malaysia once again. The cultural and economical impact of her discography and vibrant fanbase have helped her popularity flourish in a way no one expected. With Singapore being the only country in SEA to be part of the Eras Tour and talk of the deal being valid for a year, it isn't a defeat for us as yet as there is still plenty of time to push for a proposal for her to perform in Malaysia and many are hoping to see her and other international artists to fly over and perform on home soil.

With this petition, I am hoping to achieve the goal that once again, Malaysia can be hotspot it once was for international artists and ensure that opportunities like this will be more so that fans and business owners can enjoy the benefits of hosting and attending an event in Malaysia without the need to fly to a neighbouring country or the home country of the artist.
