Liz Truss, give a 10% pay rise and equal pay to all care workers and personal assistants

The Issue

During the Covid-19 pandemic, care workers in residential and nursing care homes, healthcare assistants in the NHS, and agency carers and personal assistants in the community worked throughout during very difficult times. While protecting disabled and older people who are socially vulnerable hundreds paid the ultimate price. Now it is time to show actions speak louder than words. Liz Truss has the power as the Prime Minister of Britain to protect all care workers as inflation rises by giving then a 10% pay rise. Healthcare assistants in hospitals have their pay, grading and enhancements set by the NHS Pay Review Body (NHSPRB). To ensure equal pay and consistency across the health and care sectors, all care workers and personal assistants should be included in the remit of the NHSPRB.
