Ducks with chicks and Turtles are fleeing the pond!

I don’t know what is causing the mass exodus- (but I have my suspicions...), but ducks are taking their chicks away from the pond (so far 5 pair have tried to move their brood - 2 pair and chicks were killed in traffic, and the other 3 pairs and chicks have been welcomed into residents' pools and backyards. Turtles are crawling out of the pond and leaving it. 3 dozen or so have been picked up by commuters who didn’t want them to be run over. It’s very rare to see a turtle leave the safety and security of their pond. Whatever it is that is causing them to leave, it’s putting their lives at risk and is a danger to motorists. Livermore is doing nothing but disturbing their nesting sites. They have also put up a fence and blinders to try and keep people from seeing what they are doing. Protesters have successfully stopped trucks from going in and driving over nest sites. This is crazy.
