It has been quite a long time since we have updated you on the Wakasa stone! Mostly because nothing much has changed. The stone is still in the yard of the museum. There has been no additional archaeology done at the site. The videos of the unearthing of the stone in July 2021 have still not been made available to view.

However, we haven't given up! Wakasa Committee members have been participating in panel discussions across the country as well as commemorating the 81st anniversary of Wakasa's murder.

We would like to invite you to a sneak peek of two short films that were inspired by that visit:

Don't miss this poignant and powerful event! Join us for a special sneak peek screening of two short films inspired by the life and legacy of James Hatsuaki Wakasa and the Wakasa stone.

Travel back in time to the Topaz concentration camp, April 11, 1943, as we explore the tragic injustice surrounding Wakasa's murder by a guard. Decades later, the echoes of this event still reverberate through the hearts of survivors and descendants.

Following the screening, dive deeper into the films' themes with a discussion moderated by Topaz survivor, Masako Takahashi. Gain insights into the creative process and the enduring impact of this historical narrative from filmmakers Claudia Katayanagi and Emiko Omori.

Mark your calendars and join us for an evening of remembrance, reflection, and storytelling. Reserve your spot now and be part of this unforgettable experience.
