I have received numerous letters from LISD teachers who are highly concerned about the new criteria district wide that require 90% on district test to pass. These test are purposefully difficult and it sets our children up to fail if they are pushed to such rigorous standards. In many grade levels the CBA test is only 10 questions and the first and second grade student know that missing one will fail them. I think that this does not instill a drive or confidence. Our district focuses to much on learning how to take a test, and is not allowing our teachers to actually educate our children. Its time to get back to the basics, and teach our children other things than a test. Please feel free to share and comment on this article. Your input truly does matter. We have now stood up to our government, now it is the time to stand up to our Superintendent and board members. Put education back in our schools, get rid of the tests that only give the district grants, and teach our children. Stop filling your pocket books and fill our children s minds with an education they deserve. Listen to your teachers and staff, fix what is broken or its time to get the hell out.
Thank You,
Jason Bates
