Below is a letter I received from a concerned employee of an LISD school. This is the exact reason our district is failing, lack of support and poor management skills. Not to mention a principal knowingly breaking the law. The laws in Texas that concern registered sex offenders are as follows: One of the biggest restrictions sex offenders face involves where they may live. Texas law currently prohibits registered sex offenders from living or even visiting a residence that is within 500 feet of a “child safety zone.” A child safety zone is considered any place where children frequently gather, and can include: • Schools • Parks • Youth Centers • Athletic Fields • Day Care Centers If this information is correct then we have a principal that has no regard for the safety of the children or the laws set forth to protect our children from sex offenders. What will it take for this district to get the picture? We seem to be more concerned about a librarian using political humor, than our children’s safety. For the many dads that volunteer at this school please stand up and help protect our children because our system has failed. I will personally look into this matter and if found to be true I WILL stop this from ever happening again. We trust our local LISD schools to protect our children and you should all be fired for allowing this to continue. : My biggest concern is the principal at Bramlette Elementary has a husband who is a known sex offender. Not 100% sure of the law, but I’m thinking he is not supposed to be on the campus because of this. However, he does frequent the campus. Now on to those who do nothing and those who work hard... The principal’s best friend is curriculum support person who does absolutely nothing! The counselor sits in her office and sleeps all day and if you ask her anything, the response is the same..."I don't know" The poor secretary does EVERYBODY'S work and gets chewed out for being stressed and having an elevated blood pressure (because of the stress at the school). There is also a petition being circulated to get rid of the principal at Bramlette due to her lack of competence and not being supportive of her staff. If you should see her, you would not picture her as the principal. A lady interviewed for the nurses position but would not accept it because of the lack of professionalism shown by this Principal. There may be nothing you can do about this, but I needed to share it with you. Thanks for listening! So now do you all see the problems our teachers are facing every day? Sorry about my language but this shit has to be dealt with. No teacher our student should feel unsafe when the come to school. Thank You, Jason Bates
