Many times I have tried to write this, and many times I erase it. Knowing that this would bring some backlash from the community, but as you all know I believe what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong. So today after many days and nights of praying I am going to do what is right and inform the Lisd community the issues that have been hid from you the community for years. I have been asked not to bring any names into this, but to state the facts. At the beginning of the school year I was given information from more than one inside source that an educator was having an inappropriate relationship with a student 3 years ago. This information was brought to the attention of Dr. Wilcox and was handled incorrectly. Dr. Wilcox suspended this individual with pay for the remainder of the school year. Once the school year was over this individual was no longer able to work for LISD. You may say that’s great that this individual was not allowed back into our school system, but this information was not reported to the TEA, and Dr. Wilcox violated the Educators Code of Conduct and state laws as well by not reporting this. If you look now on the TEA website this individual still has a teaching certificate with the state, so this person is still able to be around children. After I received this information I sent an email to Dr. Wilcox letting him know that I knew of this situation and all involved and had witnesses to prove it. I copied Mrs. Mayo on this email as well. I did not receive any information back from Dr. Wilcox, but what I did receive was a call in my office the next day from the father of the student involved. Instead of calling this parent I tried to communicate thru text, so that I would have proof of our conversations, but after I informed the parent that I would not bring their child’s name into this, but only how the situation was handled incorrectly, and that there is still a pedophile out there allowed to be in contact with other children I received no more communication from this parent. As a parent and a voice of our teachers I am furious that this was hidden from us all and that this individual can still be around children. Is this type of individual what we need in our district? No it is not! He has shown that our children aren’t in his best interests. Dr. Wilcox Me, the teachers and staff of LISD, and 235 registered voters in our district are not asking but telling you to step down. I ask that the LISD school board not only search for a superintendent outside of our district, but to investigate into the situation I have written about today. All children’s safety should be a concern not just our districts children. We have seen the problems that this man with his gestapo tactics have done to our district, yet the board keeps dragging their feet and Dr. Mack keeps telling us how great he is. I expect to be threatened for publicizing this information, but as a parent I do not care. Our children’s safety is more important to me than mere threats. If an investigation is not taken in this matter, as a concerned parent and member of this community I will release all of the evidence I have collected in this matter to the press, and local law enforcement, and the TEA. I am giving you the board the ability to do the right thing. I cannot sit by and let things like this continue to happen under our noses. It’s time to make a stand, and to prove to us that we made a good decision by voting you as our school board. Thank You, Jason Bates
