Justice for Haitian refugees
The Issue
Culture of accountability is something often lost in positions of power. There is a gross example of just that in Texas at our border now. Additionally, these calls are echoed in congress, as a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
In August 2021, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 destroyed much of southern Haiti. Many refugees have fled to the Texas border, in hopes to find some kind of opportunity to rebuild and feed their families. The border patrol has taken disgraceful actions such as charging at their fellow man, left destitute by a storm out of their control, and whipping those in close enough range, seeking refuge. Racist hate speech followed to berate these people in a time that was already tragic enough.
Politicians are sending Haitian Refugees back to dilapidated lands with little to no food or water. Those who make it here only have bread and water. Officials are extraditing these refugees under the premises of a safety precaution during Covid-19, which is a false narrative to their true intent.
Without our voices, outrage and signatures on this petition, these border patrol officers will continue this intolerable behavior.
We are asking for a simple signature in hopes to remind those in power that they too are held accountable to their actions. They can do their jobs, without treating people like animals or acting like animals themselves. That we are not a nation of bullies, enforced by racists and biases, that make us feel we cannot act in couth.
Please take a moment to stand up for the Haitian refugees seeking shelter in our country. This is not a matter of if they should be there or not, this is a matter of how people should treat people. By not signing, your lack of action says, you are okay with such extreme measures, which we all know are a blatant over use of power. Those unable to conduct themselves as professionals should be removed from a life threatening position.
The company I ask you to donate to is black owned by a Haitian woman and her site will explain what happens to your donation exactly.
if you are local to the Duval & Clay county area, here are a few local churches who will happily accept donations to help this cause.
