I write this as a citizen increasingly frustrated with the out-of-touch candidates put forth by our two party system. Too often, we find ourselves having to choose between candidates who can't seem to grasp the concerns of modern-day Americans due to their age and detachment from the average American. This is why I am advocating for an age limit of 65 for all federal elected offices and Supreme Court positions.

I propose that once these officials reach the age of 65, they should be allowed to fulfill their current term but must retire from reelection or from running for any other federal office after their term ends. This does not mean they would be excluded from government completely. They could remain involved in advisory or appointed roles, offering their knowledge and experience to their younger counterparts. As for supreme court justices, your 65th birthday is your retirement party.

I recognize that age brings wisdom, and we can greatly benefit from that wisdom. However, age also brings you further from the reality that most Americans live in. I want a government that represents Americans as they are today, not as they were 10 - 20 years ago.
