Dear Supporters,
As you know, one of the overarching goals of this petition is to promote water equity for our communities. The issue with limiting Nestle’s Michigan water withdrawals represents just one aspect of water inequity. The current COVID-19 pandemic has revealed another challenge: Thousands of Detroiters without running water. Despite Governor Whitmer’s recent executive order to reconnect water to residents who have had their water shut off, there is still a desperate need to deliver municipal water and supplies to residents who are waiting for their water to be turned on or whose pipes have deteriorated.
I wanted to share this opportunity to help those in the Detroit area who are struggling without water when it is most critical for basic hygiene and to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Two simple things you can do to help:
1) Donate (every dollar makes a difference) to the People's Water Board here: https://www.peopleswaterboard.org/donate/
Type “People’s Water Board” in the Designation field. Funds will be used to provide water to Detroiters
2) Sign this petition addressed to Mayor Duggan asking for access to municipal water to be restored and kept on for Detroit residents:

I encourage you all to also to support individuals and families in your communities who do not have access to water, especially during this very difficult time.
Thank you very much,
Yousef
