I am deeply concerned about Nestle’s groundwater pumping practices in Michigan, its sustainability, and its impact on the environment. I am one of nearly 45,000 people who have signed a petition to urge the State of Michigan and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to reject Nestle’s current permit application to increase groundwater pumping to 400 gallons per minute from White Pine Springs Well in Osceola County, Michigan. We request new and more comprehensive environmental impact studies of Nestle’s current and proposed increased water extraction rates on Michigan’s watershed to determine the short-term and long-term effect on creeks, wetlands, streams, species, and the ecosystem.
