Limit Extravagant MP Expenses and donations in the UK

Limit Extravagant MP Expenses and donations in the UK
The Issue
Every single day on the News and Social Media we see the struggle of the British public with the cost of living. I find it disgusting that our elected representatives are earning very comfortable six-figure salaries while at the same time claiming tens of thousands of pounds in expenses. It is unjust that politicians who promise to serve for the people, and who are paid quite comfortably, are eligible to claim such extravagant allowances. We are not demanding an outright abolition of these expenses. Still, it is crucial for the government to put a just limit on how much every MP can claim that resonates with the financial hardship of most of the public. We don’t get reimbursed for travelling to and from work, for our workwear, and I bet anytime you ask a manager for something you are afforded only the cheapest available option. Why should MPs be different? Let's demand fairness and initiate changes aimed at closing this economic gap. Please sign the petition to limit the extravagant MP expenses in the UK. After all, you work hard for the money you earn. In addition to lavish expenses MPs are also allowed to accept gifts and “donations”. So whilst you count the loose change in your hand to see if you have enough for bread AND milk, Keir Starmer is accepting tens of thousands of pounds for “workwear” and hospitality seating at Arsenal games. This is not about one particular party. This is about British politics and its unjust and self-serving way of operating. Our taxes should benefit us, the public, and not be used to allow public servants to live lavish lifestyles while the rest of us struggle. Donations and gifts should be heavily restricted (if not completely banned) as, after all, how are these things not a form of bribery?
