Lift the Linewize School Block on Entertainment and Games at Home

Lift the Linewize School Block on Entertainment and Games at Home
The Issue
I am a Student at Milton High School and like many others, I have invested significant amounts of money in games and entertainment for my home. However, the recent implementation of the Linewize school block has severely impacted our ability to enjoy these services. This is not just about wasted money - it's about the mental health of our high school students.
The American Academy of Pediatrics states that "high-quality programming can lead to improved cognitive abilities..." (American Academy of Pediatrics). By blocking access to games and entertainment at home, we are denying our children this potential benefit. Furthermore, according to a study by Oxford University, video games can have positive impacts on mental health (Oxford University).
This block is not only causing financial loss but also potentially harming our peer's development and mental well-being. We urge those in power to consider these implications seriously.
We ask that the authorities responsible for implementing this block - lift the Linewize school block on entertainment and games at home. Allow us to use what we've paid for while also providing an outlet for stress relief and cognitive development for the high school students.
Some students contact long-distance loved ones with their Laptops, but with this new restriction, it's impossible to do so. This hurts the Students' mental health drastically now that Linewize blocks these websites and apps at home.
The Parent should decide what the child is seeing at home, not the School Admin.
Please sign this petition if you believe in restoring access to home-based entertainment options in Milton.
