Liberiamo il nostro Ateneo. Riconsegniamo Il Poli a docenti, lavoratori e studenti

Alcuni degli spazi più importanti del Politecnico di Torino sono ormai occupati da oltre 40 giorni.

Tale occupazione, inizialmente percepita da tutti come iniziativa per la sensibilizzazione ai temi legati alle richieste di cessate il fuoco e alla pace per i conflitti, si è ormai dimostrata molto meno autentica di come era stata presentata, palesando derive chiaramente antisemite e xenofobe, ricomprendendo in ultimo anche la popolazione ucraina. 

I recenti avvenimenti all’onore delle cronache sono tristi testimonianze ricche di riferimenti estremisti inneggianti alla Jihad o all’offesa, ai limiti dell’umano, verso altri popoli (tra cui, anche l’Ucraina).

Considerando 

•             che il nostro Politecnico si è più volte espresso con evidenza in appoggio a qualsiasi iniziativa di pace attraverso i propri strumenti di comunicazione istituzionale; 

•             che l'occupazione è chiaramente promossa e fomentata in larga parte da soggetti esterni al Politecnico ed appare sempre più estremista e politicizzata;  

•             che i manifestanti si sono autoproclamati portavoce dell'intera comunità che nei numeri non rappresentano; 

•             che l’Ateneo ha sofferto danni materiali, tra cui lo sfondamento della porta di accesso su Corso Einaudi nella notte di sabato 18 maggio;

•             che gli occupanti hanno provocato disagi e una difficoltosa partecipazione da parte degli studenti ai “Career Days” del 21 e 22 giugno;

•             che l’Ateneo ha sofferto danni d’immagine ed economici per eventi programmati che non è stato possibile effettuare a causa dell’occupazione  

•             che gli occupanti hanno invitato un predicatore islamico  il venerdì 24 maggio per effettuare pubblicamente negli spazi del Politecnico preghiere islamiche e/o riti religiosi incompatibili con il principio di laicità dell’Ateneo, preghiera prontamente bloccata dall’Ateneo.  

In quanto lavoratori del Politecnico Professori, Ricercatori, Assegnisti, Dottorandi, Studenti e Personale Tecnico Amministrativo Bibliotecario:

INTEDIAMO DISSOCIARCI DA TALE OCCUPAZIONE 

E RICHIEDERE AGLI OCCUPANTI CHE LIBERINO GLI SPAZI  AFFINCHE' ESSI TORNINO NELLA DISPONIBILITA’ DELLA COMUNITA’ POLITECNICA

CHIEDIAMO INOLTRE AL RETTORE E AGLI ORGANI DI ATENEO DI RIPRISTINARE IL QUADRO DI LEGALITA’ DEL QUALE L’ATENEO DEVE ESSERE GARANTE

Let's free our University. Let's return the Polytechnic to professors, workers, and students.

Some of the most important spaces in our University have been occupied for over 40 days now.

This occupation, initially perceived by everyone as an initiative to raise awareness on issues related to calls for a ceasefire and peace in conflicts, has now proven to be much less authentic than it was presented, clearly revealing anti-Semitic and xenophobic tendencies, including against the Ukrainian population.

Recent events highlighted in the news are sad testimonies filled with extremist references praising Jihad or offenses, pushing the boundaries of human decency, towards other peoples (including Ukraine).

Considering

that our Polytechnic has repeatedly expressed its support for any peace initiative through its institutional communication channels;
that the occupation is clearly promoted and fomented largely by individuals external to the Polytechnic and appears increasingly extremist and politicized;
that the protesters have self-proclaimed themselves as spokespersons for the entire community, which they do not numerically represent;
that the University has suffered material damages, including the breaking down of the entrance door on Corso Einaudi on the night of Saturday, May 18;
that the occupiers have caused disruptions and made it difficult for students to participate in the “Career Days” on June 21 and 22;
that the University has suffered reputational and economic damage due to scheduled events that could not take place because of the occupation;
that the occupiers invited the Imam of Turin on Friday, May 24, to publicly conduct Islamic prayers and/or religious rites in the Polytechnic spaces, which is incompatible with the principle of secularism of the University, a prayer that was promptly blocked by the University governance.
As workers of the Polytechnic – Professors, Researchers, Postdoctoral Researchers, Doctoral Students, and Technical Administrative Library Staff:

WE INTEND TO DISSOCIATE OURSELVES FROM THIS OCCUPATION AND REQUEST THAT THE OCCUPIED SPACES BE FREED AND RETURNED TO THE AVAILABILITY OF THE POLYTECHNIC COMMUNITY

WE ALSO REQUEST THE RECTOR AND UNIVERSITY BODIES TO RESTORE THE LEGAL FRAMEWORK THAT THE UNIVERSITY MUST GUARANTEE
