Hi friends —
Thank you again for signing The Gilbert Baker Foundation’s petition to landmark the Rainbow Flag installation at Harvey Milk Plaza — a living piece of LGBTQ+ history created to welcome our community to the Castro and honor Harvey Milk’s legacy. Your help was key, and now we need your help once more.
We’re sharing an important development that underscores why protecting LGBTQ+ symbols and history matters right now: on February 17, 2026, a coalition including the Gilbert Baker Foundation filed a federal lawsuit federal lawsuit after the National Park Service removed the Pride flag from the Stonewall National Monument. Our lawsuit argues the removal violated federal requirements and is part of a broader pattern of erasing LGBTQ+ history from public spaces.
Different cities, same principle: our history belongs in public — not hidden, not revised, and not treated as optional.
Because Change.org does not provide us with supporter email addresses, the best way to stay connected is to opt in to our email list. If you’d like occasional updates, key moments to show up and help mobilize our supporters, and ways to help protect the Rainbow Flag’s legacy, please join here:

(Joining is completely optional — and we’ll continue to post occasional updates here and on our social media, too.)
With gratitude,
