Hey everyone,
As you may know, last month LG started rolling out the AirPlay 2 and HomeKit updates to their 2019 OLED TV models.
Due to a miscommunication, it was reported that these features would be coming to "all LG TV models with AI ThinQ from past to present", which would have included the 2018 OLED TVs. This statement was later retracted with LG saying:
"LG cannot guarantee that TV models prior to 2019 will be able to deliver a seamless user experience. Therefore, while this may be a possibility in the future, at the moment, LG has no plans to update its pre-2019 TVs with AirPlay 2 or HomeKit"
This mention of a possibility in the future is just to soften the blow; like they say, they have no plans to update pre-2019 TVs, supposedly because these can't guarantee a "seamless user experience".
Meanwhile, Samsung has made the features available on 2018 TVs, and Vizio has updated TVs going back as far as 2016. LG hasn't even had the decency to respond to nor acknowledge our petition.
Once again, I'd like to ask you to take a few minutes to send LG an email or tweet, or give them a call letting them know we still expect premium software support for our investment in expensive, premium TVs.
If that's not what LG wants to be known for, you know which brands to consider for your next purchase.
