The Issue

We, the undersigned, wish to express our full support and gratitude for the Buddhist monks and nuns who live and serve on Prince Edward Island.

Recently, unfair accusations have circulated—suggesting that this peaceful and compassionate community is involved in being a "Trojan Horse" for the Communist Party to infiltrate the Western world.   A shocking statement and so unfounded. These accusations are deeply hurtful and untrue.   The evidence presented was that their leader had attended a Buddhist event hosted in China.

The monks have done nothing but good for this Island. They have supported local food banks, distributed vegetable plants and flowers, and offered quiet but powerful assistance in times of need. After the hurricane, they helped clear fallen trees,  shared baked goods and warmth with neighbours—expecting nothing in return.  They have on many occasions invited Islanders to attend celebrations at the Monasteries.  Just this past weekend they hosted a  beautiful "Peony Festival" at Heatherdale,  showcasing their gardens of thousand of peonies.   All were welcome to come and walk the fields, share in treats and games.

We know the truth. We see their kindness, generosity, and commitment to the Island community. We reject the harmful rumours and fear-based narratives.

We stand with them.  It is important in this turbulent time to support the good in the world.   The need to stand up and speak out against those that seek to divide people has never been more important. Don't let them have the only voice being heard.

These Monks and Nuns are the kindest, gentle and loving citizens. They are a plus for life on the Island.

Please sign below to show your support and appreciation for the Buddhist monks and nuns  of PEI.
