Dear President Trump,

 

I am writing to you as a proud Canadian—not as a politician, not as a government official, but as an ordinary citizen who loves my country.

 

Your recent economic attacks on Canada, paired with your suggestion that we should become part of the United States, are not only insulting but utterly unacceptable. Let me make one thing clear: Canada is not for sale, not for negotiation, and certainly not for coercion.

 

1. We Are a Sovereign Nation

 

Canada is not a U.S. state. We are an independent country, with our own government, our own culture, our own values, and our own way of life.

   •   Our nation was built on principles of freedom, democracy, and self-determination.

   •   Our flag, our anthem, and our identity are not up for discussion.

   •   We are proud of who we are, and we do not need to be “rescued” or absorbed by anyone.

 

2. Your Economic Threats Will Not Break Us

 

Your decision to impose crippling tariffs on Canadian goods is a bully tactic—plain and simple. But here’s what you don’t seem to understand:

   •   Canadians don’t cave under pressure. We have faced greater hardships than this, and we always come out stronger.

   •   We will support each other. If you think tariffs will make us turn on our own country, you are sorely mistaken.

   •   We will buy Canadian. If you try to hurt our industries, we will rally behind them. If you cut us off, we will find new markets.

 

3. We Are Not Interested in Joining the United States

 

Canada has stood on its own for over 150 years, and we will continue to do so.

   •   We do not want your political chaos.

   •   We do not want your gun violence epidemic.

   •   We do not want your healthcare system that leaves millions struggling.

   •   We do not want your divisive, fear-driven politics dictating how we live our lives.

 

4. You Underestimate the Canadian Spirit

 

Canadians are kind but not weak, peaceful but not passive, patient but not blind. We will defend our country in whatever way necessary—economically, politically, and if it ever came to it, physically. We do not need the United States to survive.

 

If you think your tariffs, your threats, or your rhetoric will make us surrender, then you do not understand Canada at all.

 

We will stand together, stronger than ever, and prove that no amount of economic pressure can erase our national pride.

 

Canada will remain free. Canada will remain strong. And Canada will never, ever bow to a bully.
