We Still Need Your Help.

The RDFNL has rejected our application to join as an independent club and instead proposed the option of rejoining as Mt Alexander Eagles Team #2. This offer continues to deny our team the opportunity to play in Kyneton, where our passionate supporter base is located.

Our club requested additional time to discuss this proposal and gain clarity on the specifics, but the RDFNL CEO denied this request in our correspondence just last Friday.

All we’re asking for is a fair chance. We believe our application should be reviewed by an independent panel of three people based on the RDFNL's club entry standards. If we meet all the requirements, we believe we should be allowed to enter the league this season. We are committed to fostering greater participation in women’s sport, and we know that when leagues and sporting communities remove barriers, it benefits everyone.

How can you help?

• Write or call your local MP to share our story and express your concerns.
• Contact the Minister for Community Sport, Ros Spence (Ros.Spence@parliament.vic.gov.au), and the Minister for Women, Natalie Hutchins (natalie.hutchins@parliament.vic.gov.au), to let them know how important this issue is and that it needs further support and advocacy from government officials.
• Reach out to AFL representatives to express your concern about the current community football league structures that prevent independent women’s sports clubs from gaining entry. In particular where leagues adopt AFL policies and guidelines but ultimately, can still use discretionary decision making to deny clubs the opportunity to play in their leagues, even if they have met all other criteria.
