I want to claim a VICTORY! Thank you to all that stood with me in signing the petition and sharing it with others. Together we were able to voice our concerns regarding the lack of trust in our school district and our determination to take back what belongs to us.

Many are concerned about the April 13 school board discussion regarding the discussion of the vacant seats. The best part of it is that we will be able to decide whom we want to advocate for our children and staff in November. And that is why we need to start having conversations with people that we feel would represent our community well as School Board members and that they would be vested in the progress of our district and not the money the district can generate.

But before we go any further, there are a few concerning things regarding the last school board meeting. There was mention of an executive session discussion regarding the vacant seat at the January 19 Board Meeting, but NOWHERE on the approved agenda states that the school board vacancy item would be discussed. The first time filling the school board vacancies was placed on the agenda was March 9; however, it was postponed due to no quorum. The attorney mentions that he has spoken with the board regarding the appointment process being formal or informal in the past. When was this discussed?

There was a clear violation of the Open Meeting Act, and if you continue to listen, there might have been a few more violations. You would think that with 40k going to attorneys monthly, we wouldn’t be going through this.

In closing, I would like to remind those serving as elected officials not to forget that all eyes are on you, and we ask you to follow the law and do what’s morally and ethically correct. To my community, we must trust the law and stand by it. Therefore, if something does not feel right, we need to ask questions, research, and seek advice. We must make our voice heard, even if it sometimes means standing alone but doing what’s right and just. We must not give up; we must restore our community and take back what is ours.

I ask you to complete the poll below and share it with others from our community.
