We, the undersigned, demand that Riding Mountain National Park immediately reinstate access for motorized watercraft to the lake for the 2025 season.

For months, park officials stated clearly that motorized boating would return this year. Based on that, people made summer plans, booked accommodations, and prepared their watercraft. Then—on the Friday of May long weekend—the park reversed its decision with no warning, citing zebra mussels.

This blindsided visitors and devastated local businesses that rely on boating tourism. If zebra mussels are a concern, the solution is inspection and education—not a full ban that punishes responsible users.

We’re not asking for excuses. We’re asking for action.

We call on Riding Mountain National Park and Parks Canada to:
✅ Keep your original commitment
✅ Allow motorized watercraft access immediately
✅ Implement fair and proven measures to manage invasive species

It’s that simple. Let us back on the lake.
