Let Them Know: Delta’s CEO Needs to Go
The Issue
For nine years, Delta Air Lines, one of America’s most iconic brands, has deteriorated under the leadership of CEO Ed Bastian—and now it’s time for him to go!
Mega Meltdowns
Ed Bastian has continually demonstrated his incompetence and left Delta with shotty reliability, frustrated customers and employees, share price returns lagging peers, and concerning safety incidents.
In the last 12-months alone, Delta has had reported a crash and overturn of an aircraft at the Toronto Pearson Airport, a midair near-collision, a flight diversion due to smoky cabin fumes, and an FDA citation for “food safety issues.”
This is on top of the complete meltdown of its software system in the summer of 2024 resulting in cancellations and delays lasting nearly a week – ruining customer travel and leading to $500 million loss in revenue, all as a result of Bastian’s failure to invest in IT.
…and Bastian Still Got a Big Payday
Despite all these problems, Bastian still got paid a whopping $34.2 million in 2024.
Speak Up
Continued leadership under Ed Bastian will see further damage to Delta’s safety, business, reputation, and customer and investor base. We encourage stakeholders – investors, customers, employees – to exercise their freedom of speech and make their voices heard.
Raise Concerns at the Upcoming Webinar
On April 30, 2025 Bastian will host a webinar with Fortune Magazine where he will discuss “redefining leadership and mastering change in a complex world.” While he may have redefined leadership for the worse, Delta’s recent performance indicates that Ed Bastian has most certainly not mastered change.
