Thanks to the nearly 800 supporters who signed our petition last week, the DC Government issued a Certificate of Occupancy for Maret to use its athletic facilities—now proudly known as Barrett Fields.
The inaugural weekend kicked off with a Friday afternoon football victory and wrapped up with a resounding soccer win on Saturday, marking a historic start for our community.
Unfortunately, between Friday night and Saturday morning, vandals defaced the Maret scoreboard. This brazen act is being treated as a felony, and DC Metropolitan Police are actively investigating. Video footage and forensic analysis are underway, and we expect arrests soon. If you have any tips that could help identify those responsible for the vandalism, please contact MPD Officer Homere Whyte (Badge #3749) at homere.whyte@dc.gov.
Make your voice heard! If you attended the games—or have enjoyed Barrett Fields for outdoor activities—make your voice heard! Share your experience with local officials by completing this short survey put together by one of the ANC Commissioners who has been leading the charge against this field.
And if you can, please join tonight's (October 6) ANC meeting where community leaders will discuss the topic.
Keep fightin’ frogs!
