After years of dedicated community effort -- and nearly 800 signatures in the last 72 hours -- the moment we've all been waiting for is finally here!
The District of Columbia has officially issued a Certificate of Occupancy for Maret's Athletic Field. This is a monumental achievement, not just for the school, but for our entire community. It's a testament to what we can accomplish when we come together for a common goal.
This victory is a shining example of community in action. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the nearly 800 neighbors and friends who signed the petition to urge DC to take action. Your voices were heard, and your support made all the difference. When a community comes together, we can truly do great things.
The field is not just for Maret students; it's a new place that our children can play on and a gathering place for our community. The field will be available for scheduled use by PPA Soccer, Flagstar Football, and the local community.
The field will open next week just in time for Maret's Homecoming. The Maret Football team will play on Friday, October 3rd, at 4:30 PM and the Soccer team on Saturday, October 4th, starting at 2:00 PM.
As we enjoy this wonderful new facility, let's remember that being a good neighbor means abiding by the rules and leaving the field -- and the neighborhood -- just as nice as we find them.
