We are asking that a 3rd performance time slot be added to the 2023 Port Townsend High School Graduation. Both of the 2 performance slots for graduation were given to string players. We believe that a 3rd time slot containing singing would add diversity to our graduation, as well as give Taylor & Luna the chance to have a professional level performance experience before leaving Port Townsend High School Forever. Since we do not have a PTHS Choir, this is the only opportunity the school can offer to provide this sort of experience. 

Further, Taylor feels deeply passionate about music and singing. It is a field she wishes to pursue for a career, and has never had the chance to showcase this at school. (Again, there is no choir.)

It was stated to Taylor Montgomery by Ms. Ehrhardt that this denial is due to her wishes of a "short and sweet graduation" However, the song Taylor & Luna wish to perform is 3 minutes long, and would only require 2 mic stands and an amp. It was also stated that if any other time slot would be created, it would not be given to Taylor & Luna to sing due to Taylor not being in the Orchestra program. So the only people allowed to perform, are those who have been given the opportunity to perform by the school countless times over the course of their entire high school career. Again, since there is no choir, Taylor has never had that opportunity.
