The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has shifted its plan to construct the Metro Bhavan at Dahisar which was earlier proposed inside the delineated eco-sensitive buffer zone around Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), (Survey No. 598A, Goregaon East). Metro Bhavan will be the operational control system of all 14 Mumbai Metro lines, and will also have a training academy, simulation facility, and surveillance system.

The decision was chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde at the 153rd authority meeting of MMRDA. We welcome the Chief Minister’s decision to shift the highly complex Metro Bhavan out of a forest area. We request Chief Minister to shift the Metro carshed out of Aarey forest and save our pristine forest from highly polluting industries and concretization.
