Good morning everyone,we are 6-7 students from Sekolah Highscope Indonesia Bintaro as a citizen of Indonesia we need to take action against cases of deforestation in Indonesia.

An ecosystem is a system formed by interaction between the environment and its organisms. The biotic and abiotic components are linked through nutrient cycles and energy flows. External and internal factors control ecosystems. A balanced ecosystem means a sustainable habitat. It consists of animals, plants, microorganisms, and other elements that depend on each other and their environment. The ecosystem also shows examples of interdependence within its area.

However our ecosystem is going to be destroyed, more specifically forests in Indonesia will be destroyed because of deforestation. Deforestation can cause, disruption of ecosystems by removing producers (plants), which negatively effects food chains, leads to habitat loss for animals, and contributes to climate change and global warming.

People do deforestation illegally by cutting down trees. Based on our research, we found data of the top 5 areas in indonesia that experience deforestation frequently, Kalimantan Tengah (30.433 hectares), Kalimantan Timur (28.633 hectares), Sulawesi Tengah (16.679 hectares), Kalimantan Selatan (16.067 hectares), and Kalimantan Utara (14.316 hectares). If in total of all is 106.128 hectares 

The cause of this case is agricultural expansion, and wood extraction, for making buildings, house,furniture,paper and others.

Deforestation will make the environment/ecosystem unbalanced, such as lack of producers, disrupting the food chain, creating climate change, and the loss of homes For animals. It will also affect global warming From the data the highest year that has the most deforestation is in 2014-2015(1,092,182),the lowest year that has the least amount of deforestation is 2019-2020(115,460).It had decreased but still has a lot of cases in Indonesia till this day.

Our proposed solution is supporting the government to apply the rules and law more firmly which is Undang - Undang no 18 tahun 2013 which is about the prevention and eradication of forest destruction (pencegahan dan pemberantasan perusakan hutan)

1. Do Reforestation: Planting trees in areas where forests have been cleared or degraded or in areas that have never been forested before,
2. Do Forest management: Implementing sustainable forest management practices, such as selective logging, that prioritize the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services. We can educate people especially students to plant more trees, Use less paper, and recycle paper and cardboard, Related to our products that will be as media, we will make an investigation report, petition to be spreading to people, and digital coding as animated model to inform about the issue and spread awareness to prevent deforestation in the near future.
