Hi old freo bridge supporters,

Let’s celebrate! Thanks to you more than 200 people a day are signing up to this Save Old Freo Bridge petition.

We’ve had more than 2000 signatories in the past month alone since Main Roads published their new bridge plan - which like all their other plans destroys Fremantle’s heritage listed bridge.

We’ve presented your petition to The Heritage Council and Freo Council. Next week, we’ll be asking Freo Council to reverse their motion which endorses the destruction of the bridge.

We’ve been busy gathering engineers, politicians and heritage experts to join our fight. We’ve proven the bridge is safe to repurpose as a pedestrian and cycling Highline for the community.

But we still need your help.

This Tuesday evening 31 August is the last opportunity Main Roads are giving the community to have their say on the bridge. After this they’ll be preparing their plans to destroy the old bridge.

Come to North Fremantle Community Hall and tell Main Roads we don’t want a new bridge that doesn’t retain the old heritage listed bridge.

We need you to be there to help get our message out. Please register using the link below and come along. We’re arriving at 5:30 - half an hour before proceedings to gather as a team.

1.  Why all the five new bridge plans destroyed the old bridge?

2. Why the community had no choice in Main Roads latest survey to vote for anything but a new bridge which destroyed the old heritage listed bridge?

3. Why Main Roads never did an assessment for repurposing the old bridge as a Highline despite Freo Council and the community asking for this for more than 18 months?

4. Why Main Roads are using an assessment for bridge safety based on continued use for cars and trucks - to justify knocking over the old bridge on safety grounds. They know repurposing the bridge as a Highline will take 90% load off the bridge and make it safe for people and boats.

5. Why they mislead the public by showing new bridge plans which destroyed the heritage listed bridge without even getting permission from the Heritage Council.
