Puget Sound in Washington State is in violation of the US Federal Clean Water Act and is forcing new regulations for at least 58 wastewater treatment plants raising issues of costs and excessive completion times.  Over $9 billion is needed for upgrading sewage treatment and restoring marine ecosystems with an ever expanding human population.

The life threatening nitrogen/”urine” can kill marine life.  Increase algae blooms decrease oxygen causing ocean acidification. Contaminated shellfish can sicken people and animals.

WA state is requesting public comments on the draft plans to issue permits by December.
