Mise à jour sur la pétitionDecriminalize Psychedelics in Seattle and then Washington State!Recap of what happened this past spring
Decrim Nature Seattle
13 juil. 2021

It's been a while since we have updated our petition because a lot has been going on. Decriminalize Nature Seattle was able to meet again with Councilmember Andrew Lewis and we delivered to him our final draft of our resolution. He then informed us that he wished to pursue an ordinance instead of a resolution, and so we also gave him a draft ordinance which we had ready to go. On June 6th 2021 Councilmember Lewis and Councilmember Herbold introduced our ordinance to all City Council via a letter addressed to the Overdose Emergency and Innovative Response  (OEIR) Task Force.  There was overwhelming support, with 7 out of 9 council members affixing their signature to the letter. In this letter, they asked the OEIR to add to their work plan an examination of public policy governing psychedelic medicines, and to provide a recommendation on public policy. We anticipate that this process will come full circle sometime in August.

Between now & then we need YOUR continued support to help push this measure across the finish line and actually achieve decriminalization of psychedelics in Seattle before the Fall budget season approaches in late September. We do not want any process or gatekeeping to prevent this measure from succeeding. The will of the people is behind this, and the evidence is already abundantly clear. The evidence showing the healthful effects of the psychedelic experience is undeniable -  our collective knowledge, indigenous wisdom, and the growing body of western scientific research all demonstrate that the benefits that psychedelics have to offer are tremendous, and they far outweigh the potential risks or side effects which are easily managed through education and harm reduction practices.

Please consider donating today to our GoFundMe! Your money will help us continue our advocacy work through the summer and into the fall. We have gotten so far this year by keeping our efforts focused and succinct through canvassing, writing letters, public comment and spreading the word via our networks - we are dedicated to see this through & need help covering advertising costs, administrative fees for our nonprofit and other costs of lobbying. Funds are 100% used for the costs of advocacy only, we are all volunteering our time and not compensated otherwise.

Here's our Linktree to keep informed on how you can take action, follow us on instagram, donate, and re-share to spread the word!
