Folks, When I started this petition, I honestly thought it was just about bringing Waffle House to Rhode Island. I never expected it to spark such a big conversation. The more I’ve worked on this, the more I’ve realized it’s about something much bigger than one restaurant. It’s about the people who keep Rhode Island running after hours—nurses, EMTs, hospitality workers, truck drivers, students, and everyone else working late into the night who deserve more options when most places are closed. It’s also made me think about the kind of state we want Rhode Island to be. Do we want to create an environment where businesses are excited to invest, create jobs, and grow here? Do we want to strengthen tourism and give residents and visitors more reasons to stay, explore, and support our local economy? For me, Waffle House was the spark—but the real opportunity is having a bigger conversation about supporting workers, encouraging economic growth, and making Rhode Island an even better place to live and work. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has signed and shared this petition. Every signature has helped show that people care about the future of our state and the opportunities we can create together.
