Let’s Ask Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) to Re-release “hope” Without Diddy
La causa
We, the fans of Devonté Hynes (also known by his stage name Blood Orange), were deeply troubled when disturbing allegations about rapper and producer Diddy were made public. Since then, a shadow has been cast over one of Dev’s best songs, hope. It was a track that resonated deeply with many of us, but now Diddy’s presence in it evokes feelings of discomfort and disillusionment.
Dev Hynes’ music is known for its emotional honesty and rawness. It’s unfortunate that such an extraordinary piece from his discography is now tarnished by matters beyond his control. As fans, we understand and empathize with the situation.
While Diddy’s contribution to the song cannot be erased, we firmly believe that a new version of hope would give fans a way to continue appreciating the song without the associated discomfort.
We gently ask Dev Hynes to stand with his fans in this situation by re-releasing a version of hope that doesn’t feature Diddy (a new version, only including Tei Shi, and Dev himself.)—whether as a standalone single or as an updated version of the 2018 album “Negro Swan”, on all streaming platforms. Let’s make sure this beautiful music can continue to be enjoyed as it was meant to be: passionately and freely. Please sign this petition to let Dev Hynes know how much his music means to us.
