Let Regular, Non-Famous People Be On 'How Did We Get Weird' Podcast

The Issue

We all know and love the hit podcast ‘How Did We Get Weird?’ hosted by Jonah and Vanessa Bayer. Week after week they bring us hilarious content including celebrity guests, nostalgia, and stories of the first Todd. In addition to these awesome pod attributes the show also has the change.dork segment, which is how I know you’ll find me here, workshopping my standup material (but also being totally sincere).

Even though the podcast has an impressive 4.8 stars out of 5 on Apple Podcasts the hosts should remember that regular people also have nostalgia and jokes! I’m proposing that Vanessa and Jonah let boring people on the show and see what we can do! In addition to this being an untapped (free) source of guests you could also be responsible for the highlight of someone’s life or even launching the next SNL breakout star.

If, for instance, a very witty change.org petition writer were invited onto the pod, they might pitch ideas like hair styling tool informercials from the 1990s (see Hairagami), shopping at regional discount stores (i.e. Max10 and Value City), purse candies, and television sitcoms that open with framed photos of the characters (like Bayer family favorite Mama’s Family).
