Since COVID, there has been an big increase in dog ownership, however, access to many retail spaces, museums, entertainment and social venues, including restaurants, have not adapted their policies to allow for this social change. This limits dog owner options especially on day trips and holidays and impacts on the enjoyment for many people who consider their pooch to be very much part of their tribe. Surely if assistant dogs are welcome, then well behaved dogs should be welcomed too, otherwise, surely, it is a form of (soft) discrimination?

This week is mental health week. Statistics show that dogs can help some people manage their mental health better, simply by having their dog with them 24/7. By restricting access to dogs, by default these owners are being excluded.
