We would like your help! More than 268,000 people have signed the petition triggered by the plight of Bob and Darkie Bob's dog and only companion. Bob was facing the possibility of being evicted from his care home when he had been promised that he would be secure for life. The excuse being used was that Darkie was disruptive but this was just a device. It was about getting more money for the room . Bob was collateral damage! Many things have come up during the time the petition has been running. 1. Petitions were launched in a fanfare. A chance for the people's voice to be finally heard. All that was necessary to get an issue discussed in Parliament was for 100,000 people to sign. The reality is far from that promise. Very few have received debate and it doesn't seem to make a difference how many sign. It's the issue that determines it. 2. Members of Team Bob and many others have written to leading politicians. Nothing substantive in terms of replies have been received but it can surely not be a coincidence that a policy cobbled together on the back of an envelope has emerged from Theresa May in time for yesterday's election. 3. Press coverage has been patchy and our experience shows how lightweight are the press today. The name 'Darkie' became a ridiculous excuse. I now feel that we all need something bigger to get behind to make the changes we are all looking for about our future. Perhaps a far bigger petition or a song. Something that would take the debate up to a whole new level and not just about the direct issues which effected Bob and Darkie but so many other issues highlighted by our experience -the excessive influence of political correctness, press apathy, the remoteness and disconnection of those who lead us from what we really want and really concerns us. Hundreds of thousands of people are walking with us. Tell us what you would like us to do next, what would motivate you and get your support. What would take the loud voice of the petition to something far louder which the press and politicians would have to notice.
