Let Austinites Decide: Stop the $1.1M City Logo Change!

The Issue

Austin deserves a voice in shaping its identity.

On September 4, 2025, the City of Austin unveiled a new city logo and “unified branding system,” spending more than $1.1 million of taxpayer dollars. The design — a stylized purple-and-green “A” — is intended to represent our hills, rivers, and bridges. But thousands of Austinites are already speaking out: we weren’t asked, and we weren’t heard. Austin is facing real challenges, including affordability, infrastructure, and public safety. Spending over a million dollars on a logo and potentially even more without public input is out of touch with our community’s priorities.

We’re calling on the Austin City Council to:

-Pause the rollout of the new city logo.
-Put the final logo design to a citywide vote.

Early estimates suggest the rollout could cost tens of millions over time, but the City hasn’t been transparent about the true cost.

This is our city and our identity and taxpayers deserve a seat at the table. Sign this petition to demand transparency, accountability, and a true voice in how Austin presents itself to the world.
