Latest Department of Education Response

Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared Austin’s petition. We are now at nearly 250 signatures, and every one represents support for Austin’s right to be safe at school.

Today, 31 July 2026, we received the latest correspondence from the Department of Education. I have uploaded it here.

I am exasperated by the suggestion that the school has NO record of incidents involving Austin beyond a damaged lunchbox and a “spot on his top”.

Austin is non-verbal. He cannot come home and tell us what has happened to him. That is exactly why transparency, proper supervision and accurate communication are so critical.

I responded to the Department tonight and made clear that there is documented evidence of multiple incidents involving Austin, including correspondence originating from the school itself and written responses to concerns I raised at the time.

I also made the point that, rather than asking me now to recreate a list of incidents, the Department should obtain and review the school’s own records and communications with us over the past 3½ years.

We are still waiting for a substantive response explaining how the school and Department genuinely propose to facilitate Austin’s safe return to education.

A mum should not have to fight this hard simply to keep her vulnerable, non-verbal son safe.
