The Issue

Anthem was a game that filled a niche many players had long been waiting for. The early trailers and gameplay footage promised something truly special, and despite a rocky launch, Anthem delivered moments of genuine magic. The core gameplay loop is still thrilling, the javelin mechanics (especially flight) are unmatched, and the soundtrack is absolutely stunning.

Anthem was meant to be a once-in-a-generation experience. It still can be, if fans are given the chance to carry it forward.

Recently, EA and BioWare announced that Anthem’s servers will be permanently shut down in January 2026. This decision would effectively end the game and the world built around it. While Anthem struggled to meet early expectations, it has built a passionate and dedicated fanbase that continues to believe in its potential.

But it doesn’t have to end here.

We, the undersigned, respectfully ask EA and BioWare to release the source code for Anthem to the public. This would allow the fan community to preserve the game, maintain private servers, fix bugs, restore content, and even expand on what was originally created.

Thousands of players invested their time, money, and emotions into Anthem. Letting it disappear completely would be a loss not just for those fans, but for the broader gaming community. Releasing the source code would be a powerful gesture of goodwill and a way to honor the legacy of the game.

This isn’t about profit. It’s about preservation, creativity, and community. Let us help keep Anthem alive. Let us help make it what we all wanted.

Please consider turning this ending into a new beginning.
