Pumas are native to British  Columbia, yet some people want a cougar, who is acting naturally and normally, to be “removed” from Bowen Island, out of a misunderstanding regarding these beautiful cats.  The puma came to the island on a floating log.  They have lived on the island for a year without incident.  A cougar on the island balances the ecosystem.  The cougar does not need to be “removed”.  They should be allowed to live on the island, and the human residents should be educated by the Association for the Protection of Fur Bearing Animals (The Furbearers) on how to coexist.
