Hi all,

Here is the University of Chicago's statement regarding the 57th Street Two-Way Traffic Discussion: https://civicengagement.uchicago.edu/news/discussion-about-re-opening-57th-street-as-a-two-way-street

It appears in the current email newsletter from the Office of Civic Engagement. It makes it clear that while Alderman Leslie Hairston has refused the plan for now, the idea is not dead, particularly given Alderman Hairston is not standing for re-election

781 people (mostly local residents) have now signed this petition to keep 57th St. one-way. Thank you to Alderman Hairston for listening to and supporting your constituents!

Chicago’s next Consolidated Municipal Election is February 28, 2023, with any run-offs scheduled for April 4, 2023. This is an important issue to those of us living (and voting!) in the 5th Ward, so we will be very interested in where our aldermanic candidates stand on the issue.

Thanks again for supporting this cause!
