Lenoir County NC shelter needs your help to ensure donations made to the shelter go to shelter operations. Lenoir County SPCA’s shelter employees and volunteers struggle to save today’s cats and dogs and arrange for their adoption while the shelter’s Board members stockpile funds for tomorrow’s projects at the expense of today’s rescued animals.

Donors to Lenoir County SPCA’s shelter: for the past few years, the Lenoir County SPCA’s (LCSPCA) shelter’s operating staff has been doing a remarkable job while being informed by the LCSPCA’s Board of Directors they have a negative operating budget. The staff has, in the past couple years, managed to bring the shelter’s euthanasia rate down from 55-65% to below 1%, that’s an incredible accomplishment! During this same timeframe, the LCSPCA Board has somehow found a way to raise or obtain millions of dollars in funds to purchase land, design a new shelter facility and begin the bid process to build the new facility while underfunding the shelter’s operations and reducing key staff.

We are asking donors to sign this petition and to contact the LCSPCA to request a forensic audit of your donations to ensure the funds you have designated for the animals (spay and neutering program, medical and general operations) have been going to the animals and not to fund the new shelter, unless you have specifically donated to the new shelter.
