As a resident of Leisure Village East, I am deeply concerned about the persistent and growing pest infestations that threaten not only my own health and safety but also the well-being of our entire community. I have personally spent nearly $2,000 trying to manage this issue, an expense that places a significant strain on my finances as a senior living on a fixed income. Unfortunately, many of my fellow residents are in similar situations, facing mounting expenses without a long-term solution in sight.

These infestations are not mere nuisances; they pose serious risks to our health and compromise the structural integrity of our homes, which in turn could decrease property values. It is evident that these problems stem from external defects and shared community areas, leaving us, the homeowners, unjustly burdened with the repeated costs of independent pest control measures. Our reliance on individual efforts is neither effective nor sustainable.

We call for immediate action from our Counsel, Management, and the Board of Trustees to take a community-wide approach to this problem. A coordinated plan involving independent inspections is crucial to accurately identify and seal all pest exterior and interior common entry points. Additionally, addressing any exterior deficiencies through timely repairs and maintenance will help to alleviate these issues and protect our community from future infestations.

By implementing a comprehensive pest-control strategy, we can ensure that the responsibility does not fall disproportionately on individual homeowners, especially those of us who are financially vulnerable. We urge our community leaders to prioritize this matter and allocate the necessary resources to protect our homes and livelihoods.
