Brampton needs a Hospital!!

• The Ford Government has blocked many motions allocating for funding for a Brampton hospital. Cities across the province get new hospitals but Brampton is always overlooked.
• Brampton only has one in-patient hospital: Brampton Civic Hospital. The Peel Memorial Centre (PMC) is only an out-patient facility. All for a city of more than 600,000 people.
• 587% - In Nov 2019, MPP Horwath revealed that PMC's Urgent Care Center was functioning at 587% the capacity it was intended for.
• Brampton Civic Centre also has similar overcapacity problems. For hospitals to safely operate, international standards recommend a hospital function at 85% of their capacity. Brampton Civic is often over 100%.
• 'Hallway Medicine' or 'Hallway Healthcare' is a term which gained popularity after Brampton Civic Hospital had to treat patients in the hallway because they were significantly over-capacity.

I don't want our right to effective health-care to be politicized. I ask Mr. Ford to kindly re-evaluate his government's stance on building a hospital in Brampton! Bramptonians deserve much better than this! Thank you for taking the time to read this petition.
