Rename the Canadian province of British Columbia to something that is representative of its people. The name "British Columbia" actively praises known colonial and racist Christopher Columbus, who built the very foundation for years of oppression of the Indigenous people of North America. This name essentially highlights racism and oppression and serves no justice for Canada's indigenous population. Changing B.C's name will show that Canadians not only can change, but are willing to change their ways for the better and is a crucial step toward ending systemic racism.
