Legalize Use Of Electric Scooters In Laconia New Hampshire.

Legalize Use Of Electric Scooters In Laconia New Hampshire.
The Issue
It’s 2025. Electric vehicles are everywhere—from bikes to cars to skateboards. Yet in our city, electric scooters are still banned. You are met warnings from local police officers telling you not to be riding it around town.
These scooters are being sold at Walmart, Best Buy, and online, equipped with headlights, brake lights, blinkers, and frames built for adult riders. They’re quiet, eco-friendly, and take up less space than a bike or car—so why are we not allowed to ride them?
If electric bikes are legal, scooters should be too. The current law is outdated and blocks residents from using a safe, modern form of personal transportation.
We’re asking the city to revise the ordinance and allow electric scooter use under reasonable safety guidelines—like speed limits, helmets, and proper riding zones.
Electric scooters produce up to 20 times less carbon emissions than a gas-powered car and 8 times less than an electric car. For short trips, they’re one of the cleanest transportation options available—quiet, efficient, and built for the world we live in now!
Let’s bring our city into the future. Sign if you agree it’s time for change.
