Hello Everyone,
It's amazing we've reached 559 signatures in one month!
Public opposition to the Regional District of Nanaimo's proposed bylaws that risk evicting thousands of local residents -- many of them seniors -- who live full time in RVs continues to build.
Julie Chadwick of The Discourse Nanaimo did a deep dive into the Regional District's current approach to longterm living in RVs and Tiny Homes in the housing crisis -- delivering a bombshell story that reveals that though the RDN claims they are not enforcing against folks living in RVs/Tiny Homes, this is obviously still happening. Her story also reveals what seems to be an anti-RV/Tiny Home culture inside some parts of the RDN, which puts staff and director claims that their proposed anti-RV bylaws will not impact precariously housed residents in the region into question.

The RDN will be hearing a report about alternatives to the proposed bylaws tomorrow at its Electoral Area Services Committee. We'll be sure to report back with updates about the deliberations and the direction the Board is guiding staff to take as they finalize their work on these issues.
