Polygamy is the practice of marrying multiple spouses. When a man is married to more than one wife at the same time, sociologists call this polygyny. When a woman is married to more than one husband at a time, it is called polyandry. In contrast to polygamy, monogamy is marriage consisting of only two parties.

Polygamy is legal in only 58 out of nearly 200 sovereign countries and in 0 states out of the 50 states in the USA. 

Currently in the United States it is nationally punishable by a fine of up to $500 and up to 5 years in prison. With some states raising it to a felony, and increasing the fine amount to 10s of thousands of dollars.

People just trying to be who they are, and love who they love is a felony in some states. How does that make any sense in the 21st century. Everyone is capable to love more then one person so why not let the ones who want to marry more then marry more then one?
