Legalize Ownership of Big Cats with Adequate Training and Permits

The Issue

I have yearned for a pet lion. It's something that has been on my mind for a long time. Owning a big cat should cost a decent amount of money so that not just anyone could have one because then they wouldn’t all be treated well. All private owners should have to have permits to own one. We should also make sure that if it’s going to be an indoor pet then the home is an acceptable size. While it is understandable that extracting an animal out of the wild is not right, obtaining a big cat from a breeder should be deemed as acceptable if dogs can be acquired in the same way. It's important to realize that big cats, much like our beloved domestic dogs, can develop a unique bond of love and respect with humans. They can become parts of our families and impart beautiful experiences that can change lives forever.
To protect both the welfare of these majestic creatures and potential owners, strict conditions would need to be met. Establishing a law which permits owning a big cat, conditioned on necessary training and permits, would balance the needs adequately. This law should encourage private, possessive, and commercial usage only if the big cat is from a certified breeder excluding wild extraction.
Big cats can indeed be hazardous, but so are many domestic dogs. The danger is not in the creature, but in our failure to understand and respect them. With proper training, knowledge, and respect, owning a big cat could be just as safe as having a dog.
It's time to open up a dialogue about this issue with the government and promote understanding about big cats as potential pets. We need your signature to move closer to legalizing big cat ownership under strict regulations and conditions. Let big cats be loved and cherished in a safe and respectful environment, just like dogs. Please sign the petition to change law 117-243 “The Big Cat Public Safety Act” and allow people to have big cats as household pets if they have permits.
