I'm tired of my school resource officer telling me to store my bike until I'm 16. It's frustrating knowing that I have to wait years before I can freely ride it, and each time I take it out, I'm afraid of getting into trouble or, worst of all, being chased. I just want to ride my bike in peace without this constant fear. That's why I'm calling on the authorities in Boulder County to make electric and gas bikes, including dirt bikes, legal for all age groups.

Currently, our community has restrictions that limit the age and where we can ride these environmentally friendly and efficient modes of transportation. With climate change knocking on our doors, encouraging the use of bikes—whether electric or gas-powered—can reduce traffic congestion and contribute to a healthier environment. These bikes also provide a practical solution for those of us who cannot yet drive cars but still need to navigate the city for school, work, or personal errands.

Furthermore, across Colorado and in other states, many places allow the legal use of electric bikes for all ages, recognizing their contribution to urban mobility and sustainability goals. Making our town's regulations more flexible can position Boulder County as a leader in sustainable transportation, reflecting our community's commitment to embracing greener alternatives.

I understand concerns about safety, but rather than imposing restrictions, we can implement more educational programs on safe riding and establish clear guidelines for riders. This approach ensures safety while allowing everyone the freedom to ride.
